Here are some questions we frequently get asked.

  • You cannot study for an evaluation. However, it is important to get a good night’s sleep the night before coming in for testing.

  • The length of the evaluation will depend on your child’s needs. A full Neuropsychological Evaluation can take 6 or more hours. This can be split between two days. The parent interview can be done separately.

  • Unless otherwise discussed and directed, your child should take all their medications as prescribed.

  • First, did you complete the intake & consent forms? Bring those forms along with any records you would like to have reviewed.

You can bring a drink and/or snack for you child. Your child is welcome to bring a small security object or blanket if that would help them to complete the evaluation. Additionally, your child may bring something to “wind-down” during breaks, but please do not bring any toys or electronics that your child will have a hard time leaving to re-join the assessment.

  • Parent interviews and feedback sessions can be held in-person or virtually, whatever will work best for the family’s needs. Interviews usually occur the week prior to your child’s evaluation. A parent feedback session is scheduled approximately a month after your child’s evaluation session when the report is completed. At that time, we review the findings of the evaluation and answer any questions you might have. A separate feedback session is offered for the youth, which the parents are welcome to attend.

  • No, Dr. Katie doesn’t accept insurance. However, she can prepare a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company. We cannot say if your insurance company will reimburse you for any or all of the charge.

Please note: almost no insurance companies provide reimbursement for academic testing.

  • Depending on the person's age and need, Dr. Katie may still be able to assist you. Other options include:

    1. Calling your insurance company and asking for providers in your area.

    2. Calling major medical networks in the area like Christiana Care in Delaware or Penn in Pennsylvania.

    3. Contacting other private practitioners in the area, such as Dr. Glen Greenberg of Associates in Neuropsychology and Behavioral Health who is located in Newark, DE — or Dr. Rosemarie Manfredi of Neurodevelopmental Assessment and Consulting who is located in Bensalem, PA.
