Dr. Freeman then transitioned to Delaware’s Department of Services for Children, Youth and Their Families, conducting Neuropsychological and Psychological Evaluations for children within the Department. Within this role, she has worked with children and adolescents with neurodevelopmental disorders (e.g., ADHD, intellectual disability or autism spectrum disorder), chromosomal disorders, concussion / brain injury, seizure disorders, learning disorders, and more.

Focus of Work

Youth on the autism spectrum

Dr. Freeman has spent a significant amount of time working with youth on the autism spectrum over the many years she has been practicing. She began working with this population while completing her graduate education by providing behavioral support and mobile therapy. Since receiving her doctoral degree, she has also been certified to administer the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, Second Edition (ADOS-2).

Youth with traumatic brain injuries

Additionally, Dr. Freeman has worked extensively with youth who have sustained traumatic brain injuries, including concussion both at Nemours A.I. duPont Hospital and at the State of Delaware. She is a member of the State of Delaware’s Brain Injury Committee and has given talks at the Brain Injury Association of Delaware’s annual conferences.

Youth with attentional & learning difficulties

Dr. Freeman also has considerable experience working with youth who present attentional and learning difficulties. At times, these difficulties can present with a behavioral component, and so Dr. Freeman believes it is important to look beyond the surface, and to consider possible mood factors.
