Here’s how it works
This is the process we follow so you know what to expect.
1. Initial Consolation
During a free, fifteen-minute consultation, we will discuss your concerns and review any interventions that have been tried. During this consultation, we will discuss options and construct a plan forward.
2. Schedule
Once you decide to move forward with an evaluation, you will be sent an invite to the patient portal and will be able to sign consent forms. We will also schedule the testing session(s) and potentially schedule the parent interview. You will also be sent an Intake Form and rating forms.
3. Parent Interview
Parent Interviews are done either in-person or virtual; whatever will best meet your family’s needs. The interview can be done with one or both parents; however, children should not be present. If necessary, accommodations can be made for separate parent interviews. During the interview I will review some of the information shared on the Intake Form, as well as gather additional information to form a more extensive picture of your child’s presentation.
4. In-Person Testing
Length of time testing will vary depending on the plan for your child. Testing may take place over one or two days. Your child will be given a lunch break and is welcome to take breaks as needed throughout their session. In an effort to make your child comfortable, they are encouraged to bring a drink and may bring snack(s). While younger children sometimes bring a toy to provide comfort, please do not bring electronics. All medications should be taken as prescribed unless otherwise discussed. Please bring any records you would like reviewed that were not previously sent.
5. Collaterals
If you have provided consent I will attempt to contact any persons (such as teachers or therapists) you feel would be helpful to gain a greater understanding of your child.
6. Feedback
Approximately one month after the testing sessions(s), a feedback session will be scheduled in-person or virtually to review the results of your child’s evaluation. I like to meet with the parents first and will happily meet with the youth in a second session. The goal is not only to understand better how your child’s unique brain works, but to discuss recommendations to best support your child. Following the feedback session, I will send a PDF copy of your child’s report. If your child was evaluated through an Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE), the report is sent simultaneously to the family and the school.
7. Fees & Payment
Fees posted on the evaluation type page are reflective of the entire evaluation; include interview, record review, in-person testing, collateral interviews, report, and feedback to parent along with possible feedback to the youth. Additional services of school observations, consultation with school, etc. can be included for an additional fee. Payment is due at the first in-person testing session.
While I do not take insurance, I can provide you a “superbill” at the conclusion of the evaluation. I cannot say what, if any, your insurance will reimburse you, so please check with your insurance (I will be an out of network provider).
