
Meet Martina Jaatinen
Doctoral Intern
Varied Experience
Martina is a doctoral candidate at Widener University’s Institute for Graduate Clinical Psychology. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Villanova University and her master of Arts in Clinical Psychology for Widener University. Martina has worked with clients navigating a wide range of presenting concerns, including anxiety, depression, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, OCD, grief and loss, and parenting and family issues. She comes to BBN with experience working with children presenting with ADHD and behavioral challenges in school, and evaluating individuals presenting with a variety of neuropsychological conditions across the lifespan. Martina hopes to help individuals develop an understanding of themselves while working towards their goals and helping individuals to feel seen, respected, and safe.
Education and Experience
Education
Martina earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Villanova University and her Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Widener University. During her time at Widener University, Martina obtained a certificate in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and has a publication in the Journal of Health Psychology.
Experience
Martina has worked with clients navigating a wide-range of presenting concerns including anxiety, depression, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, OCD, grief and loss, and parenting and family issues. She also has experience working with children with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder and behavioral issues in school at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Martina also has neuropsychological testing experience across the lifespan for a variety of concerns, including autism, ADHD, anxiety, and mood disorders.
Focus of Work
Children, parents, and families
Martina has worked with parents, families, children and teens, young adults and adults, and couples navigate a wide range of issues including parent management training, positive discipline, compassionate communication, and family and sibling conflict.
Anxiety, OCD, and phobias
Martina has worked with individuals navigating anxiety-related issues by helping them to understand their fears, learn coping skills, and take steps to overcome the obstacles ahead of them.
ADHD and school-related issues
Martina has also worked with children with ADHD, behavior issues, and school refusal. Martina has helped parents and children find effective ways to communicate and understand one another while focusing on advocacy, resilience, and strategies to target symptoms.
