Intellectual Disability (ID) Diagnostic Evaluation
-
This targeted evaluation is designed to determine whether or not a youth has an intellectual disability (ID). Because this evaluation is confined in scope, overall conceptualization, recommendations, and the ability to rule-out other conditions can be limited.
-
This is recommended when there is a specific question regarding ID, and no broader questions of comprehensive neurocognitive functioning. Often this type of evaluation can be used to request services for a youth.
This service is also offered for adults, but either a record review (up to 1 inch thick) or consent to involve a parent is needed.
-
In-person testing usually takes between one and two hours. A cognitive or IQ measure is administered along with a rating form of adaptive functioning.
A brief interview will also occur with both the parent and youth.
-
The fee for this evaluation is $850 (although there has been an increase in overhead costs, this fee will remain the same in 2025).
This fee includes all aspects of the evaluation: a brief interview with the parent and youth, in-person cognitive testing, a rating form of adaptive functioning, a report, and brief feedback to the parent.
If the evaluation is for an adult, the adult is encouraged to consent to parent (or a relative who knew them when they were young) involvement. The adult individuals will receive the report and feedback.
