Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE)

  • IEEs are full neuropsychological, independent evaluations that are funded by public school districts. For this type of evaluation, the school district must first approve the evaluation / approve me as a provider. The family will then work to schedule the evaluation. While feedback is given directly to the family, the report is released to the family and the school simultaneously.

  • IEEs are initiated for several reasons. For example, the school may not be capable of providing the type of evaluation your child needs, you may disagree with the findings of the school evaluation, or feel that the school’s evaluation was not thorough enough.

  • Testing can take between 6 and 8 hours depending on how quickly the youth progresses and the youth’s individual needs. Testing is split between two days.

As with the comprehensive neuropsychological evaluation, the typical areas assessed in this evaluation include cognitive ability or IQ, language skills, nonverbal skills including visuospatial and motor skills, memory functioning, executive functioning skills including attention, inhibition, and problem solving, and academic achievement. Emotional / behavioral functioning is screened for but not assessed for in-depth.

A one-hour school observation is included.

Also allotted is one hour of virtual attendance at a school meeting.

This evaluation does not specifically evaluate for autism spectrum disorder; however, for a fee of $650 the specific diagnostic testing can be added.

  • The fee for this evaluation is $4,500. This fee includes all aspects of the evaluation; the parent interview, record review, in-person testing including youth interview, rating forms comparing the youth’s behavior to other peers their age, one-hour school observation, collateral interviews with school staff and others (1 hour included), report to school and parent, feedback to parent, and one-hour virtual meeting with school.

Travel time to the school is not included ($150/hour travel billed in 15-minute increments for any travel greater than 15 minutes outside of the office).
