Comprehensive Neuropsychological Evaluation
-
This evaluation is designed to provide an overall picture of a child’s neurocognitive functioning, elicit strengths and weaknesses, provide diagnostic clarification, and give recommendations as to how to help the youth be most successful.
-
This evaluation provides comprehensive information for youth who have or are suspected of having a neurodevelopmental disability, have trouble learning, or who have been affected by a disease, medical condition, or injury.
The target population is age 5 to 21. If you or your child falls outside of this range, you are welcome to call Dr. Katie to see if you or your child would be a fit for this service with Dr. Katie.
-
Testing can take between 6 and 8 hours depending on how quickly the youth progresses and the youth’s individual needs. Testing is split between two days.
The typical areas assessed in this evaluation include cognitive ability or IQ, language skills, nonverbal skills including visuospatial and motor skills, memory functioning, executive functioning skills including attention, inhibition, and problem solving, and academic achievement. Emotional / behavioral functioning is screened for but not assessed for in-depth.
Because of the comprehensive nature of the evaluation, this evaluation allows for the most specific and detailed recommendations.
Interviews and rating forms comparing the youth to their same-aged peers help to provide information about the youth’s day-to-day functioning. This combines with formalized testing and a record review (any provided records up to 1 inch thick) to produce a report that contains any appropriate diagnoses and recommendations. A feedback session is provided for the parents and a second session is offered for the youth.
This evaluation does not specifically evaluate for autism spectrum disorder; however, for a fee of $850 the specific diagnostic testing can be added.
-
The fee for this evaluation is $4,200 (beginning 1/1/2025). BBN has been affected by ongoing increases in the costs of materials and office overhead and will need to raise the fees effective 1/1/2025.
This fee includes all aspects of the evaluation: the parent interview (if two interviews are needed, there is an additional $150 fee), record review, in-person testing including youth interview, collateral interviews (1 hour included), rating forms comparing the youth’s behavior to other peers their age, report, and feedback to parent along with possible feedback to the youth.
If you would like to add additional testing for autism spectrum disorder, there will be an additional fee of $850.
If you would like to add additional psychological testing, there will be an additional fee of $500.
Additional services of school observations, consultation with the school, etc., can be included for an additional fee. If there is more than one inch of records to be reviewed, there will also be an additional fee.
Payment is due at the first in-person testing session.
