Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) Diagnostic Evaluation

ADHD_Evaluation.png
  • This is a targeted evaluation designed to determine if a youth has attention-deficit / hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) as well as to provide insight into the youth’s executive functioning.

Because this evaluation is confined in scope, overall conceptualization, recommendations, and the ability to rule-out other conditions can be limited.

  • This is for youth for you that may be having trouble in school or at home. ADHD can present as having trouble paying attention, being hyperactive and impulsive, or both. ADHD is a disorder or regulation and so individuals can also have trouble regulating their behavior and/or mood.

I begin working with students who are 5 years old and will happily work with older adolescents up to the age of 25, provided they will consent to a parent participating in the process, as developmental history is very important.

  • Testing can take between 4 and 5 hours depending on how quickly the youth progresses. The in-person testing session occurs on a single day and is “split” by an hour lunch break. The youth is also given the opportunity to take breaks as often as needed.

Testing is focused on executive functioning skills (such as attention, inhibition, cognitive flexibility, problem solving), but will also include a measure of overall cognitive functioning or IQ.

Rating forms are also used to compare the youth’s behavior to their same-aged peers in order to gain a sense of the youth’s day-to-day functioning. This is especially important during this evaluation. These forms are completed by the youth, their parents, and (with consent) the youth’s teachers.

Interviews with the parents, the youth, and (with consent) the youth’s teachers also help to gain a sense of the youth’s day-to-day functioning.

There will be a screening of emotional functioning (such as anxiety or depression). An in-depth evaluation of psychological functioning can be added for $500.

You can also add on testing for autism spectrum disorder for an additional fee of $850.

  • The fee for this evaluation is $2,250 (beginning 1/1/2025). BBN has been affected by ongoing increases in the costs of materials and office overhead and will need to raise the fees effective 1/1/2025.

This fee includes all aspects of the evaluation: the parent interview (if two interviews are needed, there is an additional $150 fee), record review up to 1 inch thick, in-person testing including youth interview, collateral interviews (1 hour included), rating forms comparing the youth’s behavior to other peers their age, report, and feedback to parent. If desired, an additional feedback session for the youth is offered (this is advised to be in person).

If you would like to add additional testing for autism spectrum disorder, there would be an additional fee of $850.

If you would like to add additional psychological testing, there would be an additional fee of $500.

Additional services of school observations, consultation with school, etc. can be included for an additional fee.

Payment is due at the first in-person testing session.
